Europeana Academy supports professionals working in museums, libraries, archives, research institutions, education, and the creative industries to develop the knowledge and skills needed to work with digital cultural heritage.
Developed by the Europeana Foundation together with experts from across the Europeana Initiative and the common European data space for cultural heritage, the Academy offers practical, high-quality training shaped by real-world experience in the sector.
What you can learn
Our training supports the digital transformation of the cultural heritage sector through building skills in topics including:
- 3D and emerging technologies
- Copyright and open access
- Digital storytelling
- Metadata, data modelling and interoperability
- Reuse of cultural heritage in education
- Europeana’s APIs
Flexible ways to learn
Europeana Academy combines self-paced online courses with live, instructor-led training allowing participants to choose the format that best fits their needs and schedules. This approach gets positive feedback from our audiences, with one user commenting, ‘Embedding a self-paced/asynchronous learning programme into a live workshop really works! Great group facilitation and just the right amount of time to work individually.’
Self-paced courses
Europeana Academy offers self-paced courses which you can take online through our training platform. These courses cover the same topics as the instructor-led-training but you can work through them in a time and place that suits you best. We have heard from users that the courses are, ‘Very clear, easy to follow. I liked that there was not too much reading in one section and that reading was broken up with exercises.'
Explore them all on the data space website and sign up to our training platform to take part.
Instructor-led training
Throughout the year, Europeana Academy runs live training courses with expert trainers from across the Europeana Initiative and common European data space for cultural heritage. These courses are lively and engaging, requiring active participation and interaction with trainers. Courses can consist of one or several sessions. For selected courses, participants who attend all required sessions will receive a certificate.
Spaces on these courses are limited but as the courses run several times a year, you can choose to take part in whichever period suits you best. Browse the courses available through the data space website’s events page.
