The 90-minute session will introduce Hands On! members not only to the high-quality, free-to-use digital assets within the data space’s vast digital heritage collection made available through Europeana.eu, but also to ready-to-use lesson plans and storytelling tools designed to bring heritage to life, and to the Europeana Impact Playbook as a tool to plan, assess and measure change.
Sharing resources for storytelling and education
Christine Hveding and Beth Daley from the Europeana Foundation will lead interactive activities and share their knowledge and case studies, showing how digital resources and storytelling can combine to create impactful educational experiences.
Beth, Europeana’s Editorial Adviser, will share Europeana’s story dice, digital storytelling tips and other creative resources. She says, ‘Our creative resources such as story dice and collage books are perfect tools to engage young people in the stories behind museum collections. They can help provide connection between a static object or artwork and the human experience behind it, as well as a fun and engaging way to initiate discussions, questions and new ideas.’
Christine, Europeana’s Business Development Coordinator for Education, will showcase ready-to-use resources for educators in museum settings, share real examples of how Europeana is used in practice, and highlight initiatives that support digital and creative learning. She says, ‘Our resources and initiatives help educators inspire creativity, curiosity, and critical thinking through digital cultural heritage. By exploring and reusing collections, we make cultural heritage more engaging, meaningful, and accessible.’
The free event is also an opportunity to create connection by inviting an audience of museum educators to join the Europeana Network Association, a pan-European network of innovative peers - and to share their own digital best practices.
