DEPLOYTOUR (Deployment of a trusted and secure common European Tourism Data Space) aims to establish the European Tourism Data Space (ETDS) by bringing together key actors from the tourism and data ecosystems—public authorities, SMEs, businesses, and research organisations—at local, national and EU levels. The project supports the digital transformation of the tourism sector, boosting Europe’s competitiveness and positioning it as a leading sustainable destination.
Building on the foundations of the DATES and DSFT initiatives, DEPLOYTOUR focuses on developing data infrastructure, governance and real-world use case pilots while ensuring synergies with other initiatives. By enabling decentralised, secure and trusted data sharing, DEPLOYTOUR will unlock new opportunities for collaboration, innovation, and growth in tourism.
To showcase the impact of the European Tourism Data Space (ETDS), DEPLOYTOUR will deploy five use case pilots to address key challenges in tourism:
- Tourist overcrowding in natural areas and environmental impacts (Austria-Slovenia)
- Transforming mature destinations to make them more competitive, resilient and sustainable (Balearic Islands-Andalusia-Canary Islands, Spain)
- Supporting the competitiveness of the MICE sector (Paris region, France)
- Exploring a diversified tourism offer in Ano Syros, Greece, combining heritage and climate data
- Addressing the lack of a centralised platform to empower tourism SMEs (Lapland, Finland)
Project goals
- Develop and deploy the technical infrastructure of the European Tourism Data Space.
- Define a governance framework for the European Tourism Data Space.
- Develop pilots and use cases to show the tangible advantages of the European Tourism Data Space and its impact on the European tourism sector.
- Ensure interoperability, transversality, complementarity and synergies with other data and tourism initiatives.
- Implement a sound dissemination, communication and exploitation strategy.
“DEPLOYTOUR fosters innovation, sustainability, and collaboration in tourism by enabling data sharing to unlock new opportunities, boost SME competitiveness, and enrich the travel experience. Europeana’s expertise in cultural data makes it a valuable partner, helping ensure richer, more accessible content supports sustainable tourism across Europe.”
