The European Heritage Hub was established in 2023. Its pilot phase built an autonomous advocacy and knowledge platform which brings together cultural heritage stakeholders to work towards a more sustainable, innovative and inclusive future for the cultural heritage sector.
Building on its achievements, and in light of evolving EU strategic frameworks such as the Culture Compass, the next phase of the European Heritage Hub marks a strategic continuation and significant upscaling. Through the project, the Hub will evolve into a permanent, autonomous and inclusive European platform, bringing together a wide and diverse array of heritage stakeholders—from civil society and academia to public authorities and private actors, at all levels of governance.
To remain in line with both the EU strategic priorities and the needs of the sector, this new phase will place a stronger focus on advocacy, establishing the Hub as a powerful collective voice on contemporary issues affecting the heritage ecosystem. This includes youth empowerment, outreach to local stakeholders and communities and on synergies between policy and practice. Building on our digital expertise, the Europeana Foundation will lead advocacy efforts for the digital transformation of our sector - including on matters related to AI and competitiveness.
