Het DE-BIAS-project promootte een meer inclusieve en respectvolle benadering van de beschrijving van digitale collecties en het vertellen van verhalen en geschiedenissen van geminoritiseerde gemeenschappen. DE-BIAS heeft een bottom-upbenadering gevolgd door samen te werken met gemarginaliseerde gemeenschappen om de vertegenwoordiging en participatie te verbeteren van mensen die vinden dat musea en archieven niet over hen spreken of, erger nog, niet voor hen zijn.
Met de nadruk op de thema's migratie en koloniale geschiedenis, gender en seksuele identiteit, en etniciteit en etnisch-religieuze identiteit, heeft DE-BIAS een verscheidenheid aan middelen gecreëerd, waaronder een reeks aanbevelingen om diversiteit in metagegevens over cultureel erfgoed weer te geven; een reproduceerbare methodologie voor instellingen voor cultureel erfgoed om met gemeenschappen samen te werken; verschillende capaciteitsopbouwmaterialen om jezelf te volgen of toe te passen op je eigen context; de DE-BIAS-woordenschat (die termen in vijf talen omvat) die beledigende taal combineert met contextuele informatie en suggesties voor passende termen; en het door AI aangedreven DE-BIAS-instrument voor gebruik als zelfstandige toepassing of voor integratie in bestaande workflows.

- Supported capacity-building in the cultural heritage sector so institutions can better represent diversity and reduce bias in metadata.
