EUreka3D-XR (European Union’s REKonstructed content in 3D to produce XR experiences) to increase the number of 3D and XR scenarios in the data space. Building on the results of the EUreka3D project, it will deliver a framework and a series of capacity-building activities which support the creation of XR experiences.
The EUreka3D-XR framework will offer an online toolbox designed for both content providers and users. Through the toolbox, cultural heritage institutions will be empowered to enhance their digital skills, access datasets and transform cultural content into XR experiences. End users—including researchers, students, tourists, creatives and local communities—will engage with these experiences in new, interactive ways.
The project will develop and showcase three XR scenarios: a virtual reconstruction of the medieval walls of Girona; an XR narrative of ongoing excavations at the Bibracte archaeological site; and onsite XR reconstructions of the Saint Neophytos site for visitor engagement. User testing and impact assessment will ensure meaningful, sustainable results that support the long-term integration of XR in the cultural heritage sector.
Project goals
- Strengthen and enrich the common European data space for cultural heritage by providing new, high-quality 3D content, innovative digital tools, and services.
- Advance the digital transformation of cultural heritage institutions.
- Foster the reuse of cultural heritage content in education, tourism and heritage research and preservation.
‘EUreka3D-XR acts as a competence centre for cultural heritage digitisation, promoting quality 3D and XR experimentation for reuse and enjoyment of collections. With Europeana ensuring integration into the cultural heritage data space, we jointly use 3D and cloud technologies to store, manage, share and reuse content in XR applications.’
